Gyeonggi Province announced on November 24 that it held a signboard hanging ceremony to commemorate the selection of 17 unique meeting points, to be called Gyeonggi Unique Venue, at the Suwon Traditional Culture Center.

Unique Venue (local attraction for unique conferences) refers to a place that offers unique atmosphere or charm for the exhibition complex industrial event venues that are not traditional MICE conference facilities like convention centers or hotels.

Earlier in August, the province selected 17 places, including the Suwon Traditional Culture Center, as Gyeonggi Unique Venue; it is preparing various support projects to strengthen internationalization and competitiveness.

The Suwon Traditional Culture Center, where the representative signboard ceremony was held, is expected to be a place for experiencing traditional Korean culture and producing conference events as it features a combination of the characteristics of unique wooden architectures.

"We will use the designated Gyeonggi Unique Venues to increase Gyeonggi Province's competitiveness in MICE and attract meeting events of various scales. We plan to continue to identify undiscovered attractions in the province and foster them into local unique conference attractions," said Choi Yong-hoon, head of the Gyeonggi Tourism Division.

The 17 designated Gyeonggi Unique Venues are ▲ Asia Publication Culture & Information Center (Paju), ▲ Korean Folk Village (Yongin), ▲ Suwon Traditional Culture Center (Suwon), ▲ Herb Island (Pocheon), ▲ Shingu Botanical Garden (Seongnam), ▲ The Hill House (Yangpyeong), ▲ Petite France (Gapyeong), ▲Art Bunker B39 (Bucheon), ▲Midas Hotel & Resort (Gapyeong), ▲Hyundai Motor Studio Goyang (Goyang), ▲One Mount (Goyang), ▲Gwangmyeong Cave (Gwangmyeong), ▲Gimpo Hyundai Cruise (Gimpo), ▲Everland Resort (Yongin), ▲DMZ Ecotourism Support Center (Paju), ▲Camp Greaves Youth Hostel (Paju), and ▲The Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Namyang (Hwaseong).
